Most people are quite
happy to pass up any information linking astrology and trading. But
keep in mind that forces in the universe affect all of us in many
ways, and most likely some in which we are not even aware of. For
a down-to-earth example, the moon has a very real and strong
effect on the tides in the oceans. The sun has a tremendous effect on
our weather patterns, which directly affect certain commodities
such as the agricultural products. The amount of light in the
winter versus the summer may have a large effect on certain people's
moods, leading to happiness and depression. The sun and moon have an
obvious impact on our lives, but what about the other planets?
For the most part, we do not know how, or if, other bodies in the
universe affect us.
Some studies have
mentioned that certain commodities may move in conjunction with
the phases of the moon. Even the sunspots may have a great effect on
our weather patterns, which we are just beginning to understand.
The study of astrology is unjustly neglected in market analysis. Part
of the reason for this is that it can be hard to do some of the studies
on a frequent basis. For example, some analysts look for special
occurrences, such as when certain planets line up with each other,
like Jupiter with Saturn. These occurrences may happen infrequently,
so it may be hard to get statistically valid results related to the
market with such little data.
Another reason it is
difficult to quantify astrological results is that it is
hard to isolate one factor when so many other factors
may affect the market. For
example, Jupiter and Saturn may influence the market, but other bodies
such as the moon and sun may also be affecting the market. It
may be very difficult, or impossible, to separate many of the other
influences from the specific one being studied. Nevertheless, the study of
astronomy and astrology merits more attention in
relation to how it may affect the markets and people.
